But I AM a marathoner and a runner. :)

I'm jealous you've done the Inverness marathon! I think a serious running is anyone who is training for a goal, no matter what the goal. Training to run your first 5k? You're a serious runner. Training to break 6 hours in the marathon? Also a serious runner? Fit enough to just jump out and complete a half marathon? Good for you -- you are super fit, but a serious runner you are NOT!

Stepping off soapbox now... :)lesliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11495166674226656034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8647981158777587740.post-18593711202497063512009-05-12T14:55:00.000-07:002009-05-12T14:55:00.000-07:00Being one of the back of the packers...thanks for ...Being one of the back of the packers...thanks for posting.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13860359512505828586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8647981158777587740.post-73484584323470741222009-05-12T14:22:00.000-07:002009-05-12T14:22:00.000-07:00In my opinion, anyone who trains for and runs a ma...In my opinion, anyone who trains for and runs a marathon is a serious runner. Unfortunately, the genetically fast and talented don't necessarily realize that everyone doesn't have that natural ability, and some of us don't mind that fate.

Fast does not equal serious. We all have our own reasons for finishing. If we finish, that is serious enough.Elisabeth @ joggerslife.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03330974378975068049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8647981158777587740.post-83792450478885163262009-05-12T05:23:00.000-07:002009-05-12T05:23:00.000-07:00Well said Michael.
Arrogance and running really ...Well said Michael.

Arrogance and running really do not go hand in hand. Someone should tell that to not only the "serious" runners but also to ignorant companies such as Pearl Izumi who insult "non-serious" runners.

We are slow but we finish!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8647981158777587740.post-20840162765373506872009-05-12T02:57:00.000-07:002009-05-12T02:57:00.000-07:00Thanks, Michael B, for this post. Thanks, Michael B, for this post.Karolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07731780922429194812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8647981158777587740.post-70552685878427172892009-05-11T17:17:00.000-07:002009-05-11T17:17:00.000-07:00Nice post Michael...I'd say while there are fast p...Nice post Michael...I'd say while there are fast performances at the front of the race, there are more amazing stories at the back. Almost everyone at the back is doing something remarkable, either for themselves or, often, on behalf of a loved one.
